Australia needed a new weather color

Incandescent purple, to represent 52 degrees plus.

They're saying "stay tuned for next week" because the area with the purple spot, in the desert in South Australia, is likely to set a new Australian record temperature in the 50s. The current record is 50.7.

Yesterday it got up to 42.3°C in Sydney (108.14°F), and nationally the average max across the whole country on Monday was 40.33°C, a new national record.

Hot summer? Yep.
