For the past month, Japanese broadcasters have either stopped airing commercials altogether or only been airing PSAs. Suntory, the drinks maker, is breaking the silence with this rendition of Sukiyaki. It's a song about a man who keeps his face up to keep his tears from falling.

I'm a real Japanophile and have been since I was very young. It breaks my heart to see what they've endured recently, but if any country on earth is equipped to deal with a continuing disaster of this scale, it's Japan.
