From my book Cars of the Soviet Union: "In 1988 ZIL revealed the prototype for a new car, the 4102. Although based on the 41041, this had front wheel drive. Two examples were presented to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, but the project was canned-- a victim, it would seem, of Gorbachev's campaign against the ostentatious privileges enjoyed by the Soviet elite."

I'll try. But I don't think US Presidents tend to take open-car rides anymore, do they? Pity because it would be awesome to see them in the beautiful Galaxie.

@Viva: That is a good point about the open-car. Also, it's in great shape but it may not be a good idea to have our president in a 40+ year old car.
What is Pinera's official car? Is it the same Peugeot that Bachelet had?
No. The Peugeot 607, the Lincoln presidents Frei and Lagos used before and other official cars that were state-owned were auctioned.
Now the Piñera government arranged a deal with Lexus, and the Japanese offered the cars with no charge. They are an LS600h for the President and two Camry.
Before taking office, we used his own Hyundai Veracruz.
