Quantum of Solace (2008) Chase Three

Bond and Camille walk out of a La Paz, Bolivia, hotel and get in their Range Rover Sport. He drives. Two La Paz motorcycle cops immediately start following them. They pull the Range Rover over and orders Bond to open the trunk. He complies and they find an almost dead Mathis there.

Bond kills the two cops and Mathis dies in the shootout. Bond dumps Mathis' body and leaves the scene.

Quantum of Solace (2008) Chase Two

Bond walks out of a run-down hotel in Port Au Prince, Haiti, carrying a briefcase. At the entrance, Camille pulls up in a gold Ford Ka and orders him to get in. He complies.

The Ka is immediately followed by a local goon on a motorcycle. Camille notices the bike and temporarily loses it in the traffic.

Camille tries to shoot Bond but he escapes. She takes off. The motorcycle guy catches up and asks Bond why he didn't kill her. Bond replies by comandeering the motorcycle. He follows Camille to the docks.

Quantum of Solace (2008) Chase One

This may be one of the costliest chases (in cars used and injuries to stuntmen) in 007 history.

In the opening scene, two black Alfa Romeo 159 sedans full of goons are chasing Bond, who has Mr. White in the boot. The backdrop is Lake Garda in Italy. They enter a tunnel.

The men in the 159s are shooting at Bond. A truck loses control and sideswipes Bond's Aston Martin DBS, tearing off the driver's door. The DBS does a 360. They come out of the tunnel. Immediately, one of the 159s crashes into another truck head-on.

A couple of Italian cops in a Defender 90 join the chase. The three vehicles race down an open pit mine. The cop car loses control and falls off a cliff, barely landing on the Aston below.

Bond finds his gun and shoots at the remaining 159, causing it to go off a cliff. Bond escapes and enters Siena.

Casino Royale (2006) Chase Two

Bond runs out of Casino Royale in Montenegro. He sees Vesper kidnapped and shoved into a Jag XKR.

He gives chase in his DBS. On a curvy rural road, he suddenly comes upon Vester, tied up and lying in the middle of the road. He avoids her but ends up rolling seven times, a world record.

Well, folks, I have just cataloged and described every car chase in every Bond film. As far as I know, this is the most comprehensive collection of such data anywhere. Stay tuned for chases in Quantum of Solace this November, which will include a chase between the Aston and many black Alfa 159 sedans....

Casino Royale (2006) Chase One

Carlos goes to Miami airport to blow up the new Skyfleet airliner. He plans to crash into the plane with an International tanker loaded with jet fuel. Bond jumps onto the tanker.

The tanker is soon chased by a Ford Explorer police car and a couple of Crown Vics. More cop cars join the chase later. A plane tow truck comes from the opposite direction. Carlos sideswipes it in the hopes of losing Bond. He jumps off just in time.

Bond gets back onto the tanker. It then t-bones a Volvo bus, splitting it in two.

More cop cars are destroyed. Carlos aims for the plane and jumps out of the tanker. Bond takes over the wheel and stops in just in time.

Die Another Day (2002) Chase One

This is a mediocre chase, mostly because of the overdone Matrix-wannabe camera work and special effects.

Bond's Aston's camouflage makes it invisible. It is "discovered" when a snowmobile crashes into it. Zao chases the Aston onto a frozen Icelandic lake in an ugly green Jag XK with its top down. The frozen lake driving would make any fan of Ice Road Truckers gush with elation.

The two cars exchange small arms fire and rockets. At one point, the Aston lands on its roof. Bond rights his Aston by using the ejector seat. Bond drives into the melting ice palace to save Jinx. The Jag crashes and Bond saves her. The end.

The World Is Not Enough (1999) Chase Two

Bond is at a caviar factory on the Caspian. A King helicopter armed with saw blades attacks him. He summons his BMW Z8 by remote control. As the copter slowly approaches the BMW, which is backing up on a narrow pier, Bond blows the copter up with a rocket.

A second saw-equipped copter comes and saws the Z8 in two. Bond jumps out of his car just in time.

The World Is Not Enough (1999) Chase One

During the Thames River boat chase, Bond's jet boat makes a brief appearance on land before going back into the water.

While on land, it is chased by a Rover police car and another police car of unknown make.

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) Chase Two

Carver captures Bond and Wai Lin, played by Mrs. Jean Todt of Ferrari fame. They escape onto the streets of Vietnam handcuffed and steal a BMW motorcycle. They are promptly chased by at least two Range Rovers. I say at least two because two were damaged during the chase but moments later, (another?) two flawless Rovers are seen chasing the BMW again.

A helicopter takes over the chase. The highlights include the BMW jumping over the copter and Bond bringing the chopper down with a clothesline.

CKY

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) Chase One

This is one of the few indoor car chase scenes and it features the BMW 750iL, the most gadget-laden Bond vehicle ever.

Bond uses his cell phone to beckon his Beamer. He jumps into the back seat via an open window. He controls the car with the phone.

Bond has to deal with the best cars Hamburg, Germany, has to offer: two Merc W126s, an Opel Senator, a Ford Scorpio, and a Ford tow truck.

The number of features and gadgets on the BMW is mind-boggling. They include: bullet-proof glass, sunroof-mounted rockets, tire puncture "jacks", self-inflating tires, and a saw hidden beneath the hood badge that will cut through metal in a snap.

The scene ends with Bond hopping out of the car. He lets the BMW jump over the roof of the parking garage and into an Avis rental office across the street.

Goldeneye (1995) Chase Two

Arguably one of the best 007 chase scenes. This is the one involving the T-55 tank.

Ourumov and Simonova take off in a chauffeur-driven GAZ. Bond chases them in a T-55 tank.

The chase officially begins with the T-55 crashing through the wall of a St. Petersburg compound.

The chase goes through streets, alleys, and sidewalks.

At the end of the alley sequence, two UAZ jeeps full of Russian soldiers crash.

The T-55 then chases another two UAZ jeeps and two Lada police cars. The four try to escape in reverse. At the same time, two more Lada police cars arrive to help. They end up crashing into the other four vehicles. The T-55 mows over all six of them.

The T-55 runs over more cars.

Then, the tank hits a pedestal at a traffic circle and ends up having a winged horse statue sitting atop it. The statue lands on two more Lada police cars, which promptly rear-end the tank.

The GAZ races to a waiting armored train. Bond leaves the T-55 on the train track and shoots the train. He jumps off of the tank right before the train crashes into the tank, destroying it.

Goldeneye (1995) Chase One

Bond is being evaluated by Caroline, a psychologist sent by HQ. They ride in his DB5 in the south of France. Suddenly, a red Ferrari F355 driven by Xenia Onatopp joins Bond and they race to the bottom of the mountains.

The playful chase is shot at the same location as the infamous 450SEL 6.9 bazooka chase in Ronin (which, coincidentally, also co-stars Sean Bean). They almost hit a tractor and a group of cyclists. The chase is cut short on Caroline's orders.

CKY

License to Kill (1989) Chase Three

This is probably the most complicated and convoluted chase of the entire 007 series. I will try my best to sort it out in chronological order.

With Sanchez's cocaine factory in flames, he escapes in a Maserati Biturbo sedan with his driver and Truman-Lodge. They leave with a convoy of Kenworth tankers and a Jeep full of gunmen. Bouvier and Bond use a golf cart to get to Bouvier's plane.

Bond jumps onto one of the tankers from the plane. He kicks the driver out. The driver lands on the Maserati's hood. The Maserati's driver throws him off the car. The tankers are instructed not to let Bond's tanker pass. As Bond tries to pass one of the tankers, he nearly hits a Toyota pick-up truck coming from the opposite direction.

Bond rams one of the tankers into a mountainside, disabling it. Perez gets out of the Jeep and shoots at Bond's tanker with a shoulder-fired missile. Bond gets on two wheels. The missile misses Bond but hits the previously disabled tanker instead, blowing it up.

Bond's tanker than lands on the Jeep, crushing it. The henchmen from the Jeep shoot out Bond's tanker's tires with machine guns. He comes to a stop, with the trailer portion dangling over a cliff.
Bond releases the trailer portion. It rolls down a hill and hits and blows up another tanker. The explosion causes the Maserati to stop. Sanchez gets out of his car and then kills Truman-Lodge. Sanchez and his driver get in another tanker. Bond gets back in his tractor (sans tanker trailer). The guys from the Jeep get in a Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

Bond's tractor pops a wheelie and drives through the flaming debris of the tanker he hit with his runaway tanker. The Dodge tries to do the same but sets its tires on fire.

Bond sets his tractor on cruise control, gets on his hood, and jumps onto the tanker with Sanchez and his driver in it. The Dodge continues to follow and shoot at Bond. Bond opens the tanker's spigot, sending gasoline out. The Dodge's tire fires, combined with the trail of gas from the tanker, cause the Dodge to explode and go over a cliff, barely missing Bouvier's plane.

Sanchez shoots down Bouvier's plane. She survives. Sanchez's tanker stops suddenly, causing Bond to fall. Sanchez tries to kill Bond with a machete, but ends up cutting the brake line. The tanker moves again, with Bond and Sanchez fighting in the back. The tanker crashes. Bond blows up the tanker and Sanchez. Bouvier picks Bond up in the tractor he had previously abandoned. Whew.

License to Kill (1989) Chase Two

Bond plants a bomb outside Sanchez's window at the Casino de Isthmus, which is in a fictitious Banana Republic eerily similar to Panama. Q picks Bond up outside the Casino in a Rolls-Royce. As they leave, a brown Caprice with a man inside follows them.

This is a short follow. Q drops Bond off a block away at an abandoned building. There, Bond has a clear shot at Sanchez. We later find out that the Caprice was driven by a British agent working in cooperation with narcs from Hong Kong.

CKY

License to Kill (1989) Chase One

Sanchez and Lupe are somewhere in the Florida Keys. He takes her to a waiting Willys Jeep. Three henchmen are on board. They head to a plane.

A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter with Bond, Felix Leiter, and two DEA agents arrive. Sanchez jumps out of the moving Jeep to his plane. The henchmen in the jeep shoot at the good guys. Bond shoots back and the jeep crashes. The men run away but Lupe remains. Bond meets Lupe.

The Living Daylights (1987) Chase 4

General Koskov and Necros commandeer what appears to be an old Dodge at a Soviet base in Afghanistan. Koskov takes the wheel and Necors stands behind the machine gun.

Koskov and Necros chase Kara in a Defender 90 "disguised" to look like a UAZ. The disguise is not convincing. Kara drives her vehicle up and into the transporter plane Bond is taxiing down the runway (via cargo bay door).

Necros jumps onto the plane. Koskov does not pay attention and crashes head on into a plane that is landing. He jumps out of his vehicle right before it blows up.

The Living Daylights (1987) Chase Three

This is a "follow". General Pushkin and his girlfriend Rubavitch leave a North African Trade Convention in Tangiers. They get in a black Mercedes limo. There is a similar black limo carrying his entourage.

Bond follows the two Mercedes in his Audi wagon to the Hotel Ile de France, where Pushkin is staying.

CKY

The Living Daylights (1987) Chase Two

Bond and Kara are in the mountains of Czechoslovakia in his Aston Martin V8. A Lada police car starts the chase. Bond uses a laser beam shooting out of his car's wheel hub to slice the Lada's frame from its body.

A roadblock is set up with a MAN tractor trailer. Three Lada police cars are with the MAN. Bond blows up the trailer with missiles hidden behind his fog lamps.

An army tracked vehicle and an APC join the Lada police cars. Bond drives onto a frozen lake. At first, his moving car is stuck inside a wooden shed. The army guys shoot him with AKs, big machine guns, and RPGs.

Bond's driver's side front tire blows. He uses the sharp edge of the rim to cut a big circle in the ice. A Lada stops in the circle and sinks. Bond then deploys outriggers and studded tires. He fires a rocket hidden behind his rear license plate for the getaway. He and Kara crash into a snowbank and flee on foot. He sets his Aston for self-destruct.

The Living Daylights (1987) Chase One

The one-car chase. Bond is in Gibraltar. The assassin drives away in a stolen British army Rover. Bond jumps onto the soft top roof.

The assassin does everything to throw Bond off, including shooting through the roof with his silencer-equipped pistol. During this "chase", the Rover runs over a guard. Another guard shoots the back of the Rover, igniting the boxes of explosives it is carrying.

The interior is filled with smoke. 007 cuts the roof and gets in. The Rover crashes through a souvenir shop, some tables and chairs, and sideswipes a car or two. It hits a brick wall and flies over a cliff. Bond gets out with his parachute. The assassin doesn't and the Rover explodes before it hits the water. Bond lands on a yacht.
