Carspotting: 1989 Ferrari Mondial t coupe

I found this today at the Oakland Chinatown underground garage.  It was all by itself, away from the Odysseys, Siennas, Camrys, and Accords (it is Chinatown, after all).  The Mondial line is much maligned but this example is gorgeous.  I can't figure out how the owner was able to get out of his car without scratching his door.

I had no idea what the "t" meant.  This Motorweek test explains everything.  It's apparently the most desirable of all the Mondials.

By the way, for the best jook/congee/rice porridge in the East Bay, go to Gum Kuo.

That brings back memories. Let me clarify that, I had a decidely middle class upbringing but went to a private high school. A fellow classmate (whose father had considerable means) used to be picked up by his sister in a yellow Modial convertible daily. This was during the late 1980's and seeing this car in the flesh ( driven by a swelte blonde no less) plus Ferrari being featured in Miami Vice was about all a teenage boy could handle.

@MattC: In my high school, we had a brother and sister from somewhere in Asia. The dad ran a hospital there. He bought them a house here so that they could have an American education. They lived there without any adult supervision. She had a new red 190E. He had a white Porsche 944 S2. He crashed the first one when he took an offramp too fast, and got another 944 S2. All the guys were green with envy.

As for the rest of us, can you say Tempos, Tercels, and Cavaliers?
