Rick Santorum, your Republican presidential frontrunner

With Romney in the dumps and Santorum in the lead, the Republican establishment is seriously worried about their ability to beat Obama in November.  In just the last two days, Santorum has:
  • denounced free prenatal testing because it encourages abortions;
  • questioned the necessity of federal- and state-mandated public education;
  • questioned Obama's foreign "theology" of caring about the environment; and
  • compared Obama to Hitler, because we all thought they were harmless, nice guys before they turned out to be evil dictators.
Here is Bob Schieffer's interview of Santorum, with the relevant soundbites.

I don't know whether to be glad that things are looking good for Obama or worried that there are "educated" people out there who take these guys seriously.

For all of Obama's flaws, and, he sure has a few, at least his rhetoric is mostly common sense.

I thought 8 years with Bush was bad... Imagine this cook in the White House with a Republican Congress & Senate. I shudder at the thought of it!

How many years worth of civil rights, women's rights, health, education, labor progress & religious freedom can these guys roll back in 4 years? I'd bet at least half a century.

@F1O: Hopefully, this will get independent women and moderate Republican women to come out to vote.

@Viva: 1) What Santorum is saying has not been said publicly since the 1960s. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is shocked. 2) Do you have any links to videos about the landmines between Arica and Tacna? I heard about the rain problem today. 3) Watch for my Columbia, California post. I was there over the weekend and it has a Chile connection.

@F1Outsider: I feel that the Republican party has been usurped by religious right. By that, the traditional sense of financial conservatism (traditioanl Reb. values) has given way to neo-conservatism.

Most Financial Conservatives had since become Liberatarians. I know that the current Republican party does not have my interests in mind.
