The intelligence/wit index is going to be exponentially above that of Top Gear USA.
Here's co-host and Pulitzer winner Dan Neil.

This is why I was ultimately very excited about a US Top Gear even if it sucked. I knew it would spawn other shows trying to replicate or innovate on the format. Just by the previews I can see that this will be miles ahead of anything Speed has had on air in the past decade.
I hope Discovery gets on the bandwagon as well and maybe talk to Motorweek into doing a format change up.
@Alan: Some people don't like Carolla's humor and his I-used-to-be-a-blue-collar-schlob-like-you gimmick is getting tired, but he is still very funny, smart, and passionate about cars.
@F1O: I'm just waiting for Motorweek to be cool again without ever changing, like Rob Lowe.
I cannot wait fot this. When Adam Carolla was involved with NBC's failed TG USA pilot , I was excited. I know not everyone likes his sense of humor, but to me I find him incredibly funny, smart and he knows his way around cars. (as a bonus, I learned to drive a stick shift in a Datsun 510. Adam now drives a race prepped one pretty regularly).
The current TG USA is starting to find its way(although they have no idea what to do with their version of The Stig). However,Adam's show with especially Matt Farah should be a home run. The problem with the current TG USA, is that it is replicating the formula of TGUK (which always will do it better). The Car Show is unencumbered with following any strict formula.
@MattC: Interesting about your connection with the 510. Do you know who John Morton is? I had no idea until I looked him up online. I may be spending a little bit of time with him in Laguna Seca this August. I had no idea he is such a legend in Datsun circles.
I had no idea who john Morton was until I researched (via Wikipedia) his career. He was a pretty accomplished race driver and is still active today in the classic race series. If only I could have 1/10 of the racing ability of John, I would be a happy man.

Adam Carolla's Car Cast podcast is also fantastic - check it out if you get a chance.
