Shameless Dawn soap Gulf oil spill ad commercial
I don't know about you, but after watching this ad, I'm inclined to NOT buy Dawn soap. Unbelievable. Shameless self-promotion during an ecological catastrophe.

I saw this before the BP fiasco started.
That said, it's still disgusting.
Dawn is a great product for more than just dishwashing. I have always used it and will continue too. It was used way back during the Valdez spill. They choose to donate part of their profits towards this cause so be it. They are no different than say Yoplait yougurt donating to breast cancer. Maybe you should use your blog and your time to get people to boycott BP. Yes the commercial is disgusting but isn't what this whole disaster is?
I have to agree with that last comment 100%. First of all, they are in business to make money. If their product is better at doing something than anyone else (i.e. clean grease off of tainted animals) well then they should advertise it. AND, its not all for their benefit. They are giving more than any other company to the cause. I haven't seen any ads from Mr. Clean offering to donate a $1 for every bottle bought. And by the way, $1 is probably what the company makes off of each bottle. So you could say that they are giving up their profits to help the cause. You should think about the underlying effect and not just "how disgusting" it is that they should advertise during a disaster. I don't see the S.Africans canceling the World Cup just cause there's a disaster in the Gulf...
This has been going on for years. I think its great. So what if they make money in the mean time. I recently bought DAWN and went to the website to report it. (you have to do that for the $1 donation) It only takes 30 second. I only paid $2 for my bottle and if they give $1 they aren't making that much on my bottle. Keep buying DAWN and keep reporting it. I have a dishwasher so I don't use much, but am thinking of stocking up.
It may be shameless, but it's true.
