Mazda rotary pick-up truck

I went to an impromptu Japanese classic car show yesterday in Pleasanton.  I'm not really into the scene so I am not knowledgeable about what was on display.  I did find this 13B rotary powered Mazda pick-up truck interesting though.

Surely it wasn't known for its towing capacity. Torque is not one of the rotary engine's virtues.

From what I understand though, Mazda tried putting a rotary into just about every chassis they had in the 70's.

Then I guess this rotary-powered bus was not such a great idea:

Oh god! I don't even want to know what kind of MPGs that bus got.

"We reckon the highlight would've been watching one trundling up Mount Fuji, fully loaded."

Ditto!
