Definitely not a rhino runner bus, something else with not much armor on it of the vehicle that was destroyed in picture. Did some research all rhinos runner buses were flat faced except for the military's large rhino witch has the v- hull witch this vehicle was obviously not one of those.
Actually...that probably is a Rhino. I've ridden that route in Kabul before, going out to KMTC. That is the only vehicle of that variety that they use there on that route. Also, my unit never trusted those things since they offer little protection. We always thought it was only a matter of time. Quite unfortunate.
The Rhino Pictured (top) is the older version. We had two of them until we received the newer version, around Jan 2011. The newer version was destroyed. I know because i drove both the old version and new for over 100 missions in Kabul, while stationed on Camp Phoenix as an 88M. God Bless all who lost their lives that day.

That is not a Rhino armored bus. Pictures show it is not.
@sp5: You're right. What do you think is in the second picture?

@Anon: I hate it when news sources misidentify vehicles. Thanks for your thoughts.
This goes without saying, but RIP to the victims.
The confusion comes from the military. All armored buses are generically named "Rhino".

That’s BS, that vehicle was built in south Florida. It does not have any engine protection. Furthermore, I worked on rhino runners.
That is not a rhino runner… the vehicle you’re talking about was built by square one
That's what matters?!? F-off. When we responded they called it a Rhino...who gives a flying F if that's what is was by nomenclature. Fing children.
