My Maserati engine block coffee table may be happening. I am close to putting down a deposit on it. It should be ready in two to three weeks. While we wait for the close-to-final product (I still have to figure out how to make it level and I have to buy a glass top), here is the 959's engine. That looks level enough for a glass top, right?

can't wait to see the finished product.
That 959 engine is a gorgeous mix of shapes, textures, colors and finishes.
@Alan. I can't wait either.
I was perusing an old issue of Automobile magazine before I tossed it in the recycling bin and saw this picture of the 959's engine and thought- Woh, I gotta post this.
Wow, what a beautiful engine. It really checks off all the aesthetic cues that I like. You are right, a horizontally opposed engine seems to make a perfect engine table. Although your Maserati Biturbo engine should really look nice.
@MattC: Unfortunately, my living room furniture budget cannot cover a 959 engine.
I just put the deposit down on the engine. My top concern now is stability, as it will be essentially Y shaped. Once it arrives, I'll take some pictures and you guys can give me suggestions.
I'm also debating black versus red valve covers. Maybe I'll set up a poll.
