My WeGene DNA results are in!
My hopes of being an ethnic Chinese minority were dashed. I'm just a regular majoritarian Han.
The split makes sense. My mother is from the Beijing-Tianjin northern area. My father's family is from the Shanghai southern area. The 6% remainder is curious. According to 23AndMe, I'm 5% Korea, 1% Japanese.
I did hear a DNA expert on NPR compare our current understanding of DNA ancestry to Galileo with his crappy telescope.

Dude, this is awesome. My mom did ancestry.com a few months ago and was very disappointed at the results, which was "You are 100% East Asian" or something like that. No detail at all, and when she called customer service, they admitted that they were very Euro-centric.
I've just forwarded this to my mom, who will undoubtedly be delighted.
