Great stuff, never heard about Gurgel.

Another obscure car:
Derways Cowboy. Safe to say it is the first Caucasian car. Developed in Russian South. Based on ARO frame.

I found about them the first time I went to Brazil in 2004. When I came back I read a lot about them. Mostly VW based, off-road vehicles, they tried to enter the small car market and developed their own engine... just as the market was deregulated in the early 90's. So the company died and no, they were not the new Ford...

Last thing I read, some company in Brazil was using the Gurgel name on imported Chinese 3 wheelers!
