Not exactly ethical
How so, Sanchez?
I agree with Sanchez, it's nothing to joke about. While I'm a fan of dark humor in general, I think movies like this are too hurtful towards raising awareness for NK's situation.
The west tends to laugh at those backwards North Koreans and their kooky leader while it's one of the worst human rights travesties in the world. I believe the international community should interfere and help the people of NK, not take the issue lightly and laugh at movies like these. I recommend checking out some of the gruesome defector stories of late.
With respect, intervening would be insanity--there's China, North Korean nukes and leadership not afraid to use them.
I've read defector stories, seen the documentaries, the satellite images of the labor camps, and understand the living hell NK is for its citizens.
But I like to laugh, and knowing in general how uninformed Americans are this movie might even have illuminated the subject to a lot of people who might not have cared otherwise.
I'm angry with Sony as well, but a growing part of me empathizes with their situation. I'm curious, does anyone think NK's threats carried any weight?
@alan: I don't think NK's threats of violence here on American soil has any weight.
Come on, North Korean threats are worthless, the reaction to the hacking in the US is so ridiculous, makes the one world superpower look so scared, like such a coward...
I'll try to watch the movie as soon as someone posts it online.
And on intervening on NK, I'm not sure it is that nuts. I don't think China would risk defending Kim, and the Koreans most likely don't even have nukes yet.
