Take politics out of the equation, Mr. Sanchez had no right to be an on-air news personality. Moreover, I truly believe that most US news media have completely lowered the bar for entry. It seems to matter not, that someone who does not have even a rudimentary knowledge of geography (nevermind some knowledge of regional conflicts/hot spots). Again, Sanchez is indicative of the "Style over Substance" media movement. The era of impartial news "reporting" is long over. All networks have their spin on news (Left/Right).
@MattC: You said it, man. I grew up with MacNeil, Lehrer, and Jennings. Now those are/were smart, professional, and fair reporters you could trust. Not this crap CNN, MSNBC, and Fox dish out.
I was pissed a while ago when CNN kept mixing up Inner Mongolia (Chinese province) with Outer Mongolia (the independent country). I should have given them some slack since their people don't even know where Hawai'i is!
Are you sure that's not Sacha Baron Cohen in disguise?
American news channels drive me crazy, I just can't stand watching them and we only get the tamed down CNN World here (on freeview). My view on them may be a bit distorted from watching these kind of clips on YT (and Bill O'Reilly etc), but our news are strictly business in comparison. If I lived there I'd rely on Stewart and Colbert for the news. :)
@Edvin: It is sort of like Ali G/Borat, isn't it? When you watch it, you can't believe it's actually happening and what he is saying.
Even the supposedly well-educated journalists here are suspect. A reporter got her degree from NYU (very good school) and could not name a single country the Allies fought against in World War II.
