For the casual tourist, on the plus side, most of the attacks are against the military and the police. On the minus side, there are an awful lot of attacks along the route from Ecuador to Medellin to the border of Panama. For some reason, before seeing this map, I had assumed that most of the rebel activity would be in the eastern, less populated, half of Colombia.
