2008-10 E61 BMW 535xi wagon
This is what I want. Twin turbo V6, 300 horsepower, all-wheel drive. Type of transmission does not matter. I will budget accordingly for the inevitable breakdowns.

Certainly ticks a lot of boxes.
Looks like a bigger car than you originally intended?
Good choice.
@mtc: It is bigger than what I wanted. But I'd much rather drive a midsize wagon like this than a Saab 9-5. Also, I've had a 3 already, so it's time to graduate to a 5. What can I say, I can justify every nutty decision I make with some half-assed reasoning.
I know it is an older vehicle (and thus a potential source of unwanted anxiety), but what about a meticulously maintained E39 wagon? Much prettier body style, in my opinion.
Edit:
Or heck, this:

Gorgeous.
If we're going to get nuts, let's get nuts.

Ugh, nevermind- that auction already ended. I fail.
All these comments and yet not one BMW fanatic getting frothy-mouthed at the reference to a "V6" rather than the proper I6.
@midelectric: Ha! I should know better. I had a BMW inline 6.
Yes...but the $$$ of repair!! May not be worth it. If you could get a low miles one, that'd be awesome.
WHOA, hang on. I have a friend selling his E61 wagon with sport package AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I'm very familiar with this car. It has a salvage title...but only because a snowplow hit it while parked this past January and the cost to replace the HID lamps, both front fenders, hood, and bumper were apparently more than that car was worth. NO structural damage at all.
Catches? Well, it's a 530xi Touring, so no turbo. Second, it's located in Connecticut. The car is owned by a fanatic. Third, it has 160K miles on it...but like I said meticulously maintained. Let me know if you want me to put you in touch with him.
@Ed: Too many miles, too far away. Thanks though.
