On my way home today, I saw a pristine 1990s Olds 98. What if I got this? It's rare.* It's affordable. It's kinda good looking in a goofy kind of way. Anyone have any experience with these engines and transmissions? I know nothing about GMs.
*Right now, there are THREE Mercedes-Porsche 500Es for sale on the local Craigslist. There are ZERO 11th generation Olds 98s for sale.

This was a good era for GM big cars, our neighbor has the contemporary 88 which to this day still looks sharp to my eye. Olds Auroras were also well done but the V8 may still have you sleeping on the couch.
My parental grandparents bought two new 98's every four or five years going back to the late 60s. I remember the two from this gen - it was very impressive, and at the time I was a vehemently anti-American car middle schooler. Great dash with tons of bells and whistles, and just a unique style, with a much more elegant and unusual rear treatment verses the more common 88 which shared the same front end design. Great ride, quiet, comfy. I still have a soft spot for them.
