Traveling from Western Sahara to Libya via Mauritania and Algeria
This is an excellent documentary, from the Tropic of Cancer BBC series by Simon Reeve. A great snapshot of 2010 North Africa.

I'm going to Fort Dodge, Iowa!
Maybe.
I'm thinking of going to Iowa again to knock on doors for Bernie before the February 3 caucus. The campaign is much more organized and streamlined this time around. You just go online and they tell you where volunteers are needed the most. This year, they need people in Waterloo (I was there in 2016), Sioux City (a swing district near Omaha), and Fort Dodge (a solidly blue district until Trump).
To give you some perspective, Fort Dodge (population 25,000) is in Webster County (38,000). From 1984 to 2012, the county consistently voted for Democratic presidential candidates. In 2012, 52.1% voted for Obama. In 2016, 57.7% voted for Trump.
Here is the biggest attraction in Fort Dodge, a mural on an abandoned silo!

They say the first Monday of the new year is the busiest day for divorce lawyers because a lot of people call them, wanting to divorce their spouse. Here is a couple dividing up their Beanie Baby collection.

Pacific Island Hopper on United
I came across this video while searching for the Marshall Islands' president's car. It's a 16 hour flight in a 737. You go from Hawaii to Marshall Islands (Majuro the capital and Kwajalein an American army base) to Federated States of Micronesia (three stops) and finally to Guam. This is crazy, just like my bus trips.
When I was in Honolulu last time, I was salivating over all the exotic destinations on the departure board.
