We visited this Army Corps of Engineers exhibit over the weekend. Admission was free. In the 1950s, before computer modeling, they created a 1.5 acre model of the San Francisco Bay in a giant warehouse. Everything at the exhibit is stuck in the 1990s. It's worth a look if you're in the area.
I found this place by accident, too. Well worth an excursion. It's like those roadside America minautures from the 50's. It's fascinating to see the natural tidal patterns of the Bay, and the many attempts, mostly unsuccessful, to geo-engineer the Bay.
