Smart license plates

Apparently, California will have 100,000 of these this year.

  1. The advertising bothers me way less than the telematics and tracking.

    Is this how they are planning on replacing the lost gas tax revenue on electric, hybrid, and other very fuel efficient vehicles?

    The state knowing the exact whereabouts of my vehicle at all times? I'm not so sure I'm down that that.
