This is a sketch the two did. Its theme was quite shocking. A civil war was taking place in El Salvador and Reagan was sending arms and military advisors to the cruel right-wing government to fight the Communists. Larry David impersonated Bing Crosby and Kramer played a Salvadoran soldier. It's not really funny, but it is just bizarre to know this was once on American network TV.
i used to watch Fridays (8/9th grade, still too young to be out that late on a Friday), and distinctly remember Michael Richards, but never knew Larry David was on it too.
ReplyDeleteAs a Reagan-era teen i totally feared being drafted & sent to Central America, and registered as a Conscientious Objector with Selective Service.
@slirt: I didn't know that was an option. I debated whether to sign up for the Selective Service because of Iraq War I.
