I accidentally stumbled upon this while looking for depressing Danish films on Netflix. It's a documentary about a Dane who buys a diplomatic passport from a Dutch broker. He becomes the Liberian consul to the Central African Republic. He sets up a dummy company (a match factory) but in reality, he is trying to get into the blood diamond business. He sets up hidden cameras and talks to fellow diplomats (some of whom are dirty), government ministers, and the head of state security (who was shot and killed before the movie was released). It is a spectacular look at corruption in Africa.
Got engrossed in this last night. Nice find.
ReplyDeleteOn the opposite spectrum of Danish entertainment, have you watched Klown yet? Like an even funnier, more risque Curb Your Enthusiasm.
ReplyDeleteSascha Baron Cohen's tagged the two writers/starts to write his new film, which sounds as if it's going to be the funniest thing ever.
@Alan: Just added it to my queue.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy.
ReplyDeleteThere's a movie on Netflix, or Hulu, or the show, vice versa, something. Watch the show first. 6 seasons worth.
