2011 Saab 9-5 for sale

You can still buy a new one from a dealership!  This one is in San Francisco and once retailed for $42,000.  You can buy it for $25,000.

  1. Still not worth it at $25k when you can buy a similarly equipped Mazda6 for around the same price before incentives.

They need to drop another $10k off that price.

  2. I'm not even sure it'd be worth that, given that you'd be buying a car from a company with a spotty reliability record and a business model that went bust. I'd be interested to see how people who have bought one (or any other relatively new Saab) has maintained it.

  3. $25K would buy the best example on the planet of just about any pre-GM Saab. At least the 9-5 posted has the C-pillar hockey stick in profile; many badge-engineered Saabs of the past 10 years didn't even have that.

And now Lancia is headed down the same path...

  4. @Nigel: You know, I see these oddballs once every couple of months. I'll have to stop and ask the owners next time.

@Spanner: I feel sorry for Lancia and Saab. They're like used and ex-girlfriends of abusive relationships.

  5. It's a shame it ended when it did. That's a good looking car and I wouldn't mind having one if a service network and parts availability were guaranteed.

Saab recently had a bankruptcy auction where they sold many rare new cars. I like the 9-5 SportCombi, only 33 were built. They also sold ex-CEO Victor Muller's personal company car.
