Despite being a country of just 104,000 people, Tonga is facing some weighty issues. The first half of this piece covers the obesity epidemic and the second half covers the country's dependence on foreign aid and remittances. Here in the Bay Area, there are many Tongan women who act as "nurses" and live with elderly people who would otherwise have to move into nursing homes.
