To commemorate the 17th anniversary of Ayrton Senna's passing, Netflix is streaming the Senna documentary online today. For those who cannot wait until August for the US premiere, this is a real treat.
I didn't become an F1 fan until five years ago. I not only wish I was a fan when Senna raced, but I wish I was able to watch him at my current age, with my maturity, life experience, and mindset. This was a man who had an extraordinary relationship with machine, other men (especially Prost), and his god. He was a true champion, and no one on the current grid, as talented as they are, is his equal.
I got choked up once, and it wasn't at the end. Rather, it was after his first win at home in Brazil.
On a lighter note, I did not know that Senna went out with Xuxa. Also, the starstruck look on a young Rubens' face when he met Senna was hilarious and priceless.
What a way to end F1 weekend!
Wow great post & tip. Going to watch as soon as I click "publish your comment".
ReplyDelete@F1O: Let me know what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteSo tempted to watch it but will wait for the August release - such an epic film deserves to be seen on the big screen.
ReplyDeleteWill have to see it as soon as I can get my hands on it.
ReplyDeleteThe picture above is funny, because they look like a team of accountants on holiday. :)
@Edvin: I think I had jeans like Rubens'. What were we thinking back then?
