I rented a Kangaroo TV. It's a small screen about the size of a garmin gps that shows the live television feed, live timing, etc. It's well worth it. It comes with a pair of in-ear headphones for you to listen in on commentary as well. But I didn't listen in much.
I didn't wear any ear protection. The cars literally shake your brain and your ear will be buzzing until well after the race. :-)
The "future city" at 2:48 looks remarkably like Brasilia in Brazil, which was planned and built in the 1950's.
