Meg Whitman for governor ad in Alfa Romeo Bulletin Board
What will $104+ million in advertising buy you? Everything. This Meg Whitman ad popped up in a discussion about Montreals. It's not looking good for Jerry Brown.
American politics never ceases to amaze me, for instance the multi-million dollar ad-campaigns, public slandering ads etc. That would never fly here, or at least I hope so... I don't mean that in a condescending way, we're not without faults either.
Campaign finance is a huge problem. Legal challenges have been struck down under the justification that accepting and spending ungodly amounts of money are protected by freedom of speech.
The crisis in California right now is so bad that it almost doesn't matter who wins because I don't think anyone is capable of fixing the problems.
The voters kicked out the former governor with a recall election and put Arnold in. Everyone thought he was going to change politics in California. His approval rating now is lower than the unpopular governor he replaced.
That's another thing that amazes me, that people still have it in them to believe in change (by electing someone famous). :) Then again, politics = business and when there's money to be made ad-men can be very convincing.

ReplyDeleteMy cynical $0.02.
But Edvin, Arnold was so convincing as a kindergarten cop! With those skills, he must be able to easily govern the 6th largest economy in the world.
