I was pretty surprised at how 95% of the commenters agreed with Joe and how a few even thought that MSC may drop out before the end of the season.
It's really sad, but hey, he's a big boy and he wanted to come back.
However, as much as I like Heidfeld, I'm also surprised by how many people think that Heidfeld could have done better in MSC's spot this season. Do you think Heidfeld would be close to being tied with Rosberg in points right now?
Finally, do you have an explanation for your boy Kamui? Inexperience? Too aggressive of a driving style? Bad luck? Poor Peter Sauber needs Prozac.
I'm certain Heidfeld would be doing better than Schumacher by this point in the season.
The problem now is that Mercedes has put itself into a catch 22 situation. Schumacher isn't improving and Heidfeld is probably very rusty. Drivers these days seem to get rusty very quickly, so it would be a big gamble to put Heidfeld in the seat at this stage of the game.
There's also talk that Mercedes has run out of budget for this year and is therefore stopping development on this year's car and moving onto next year's.
Kamui is a disaster! But so is De La Rosa to almost the same extent. I bet the car is a beast to drive, which leads both drivers to being on the edge that much more, leading to more errors...
Well there goes any chance of any stability at all in Afghanistan!
ReplyDeleteFYI: Joe Saward rips into Michael Schumacher a little bit on his blog today:
