Carrier Pigeon Versus ADSL Race

Apparently, the South African internet infrastructure is really bad. Today, this was demonstrated when a carrier pigeon carrying 4 gigs of data on a memory stick was pitted against data transmission via an ADSL line.

The 80 kilometer race was rough for the bird as it was rainy. It took 68 minutes for Winston the Pigeon to fly between the two points and another hour to upload the data.

As for the ADSL line? By the time the pigeon's data had been completely uploaded, only 4% of the data had been transmitted.
