The 924 has always been snubbed by Porsche-philes. But this red 924 Carrera GT for sale in Lyon is an absolute must-have, if you have the dough.
Porsche entered LeMans in 1980 with a bevy of race prepped 924s, called 924 Carrera GTRs. They finished 6th, 12th, and 13th overall-- not bad at all. To comport with the rules, 400 homologated versions of the GTR, called the 924 Carrera GT, were sold to the public.
Changes from the normal 924 Turbo included a wider body; a revised suspension; new pistons, injector, and intercooler. Aluminum doors and hood, plastic body cladding, and a lack of creature comforts together lowered the curb weight.
The Carrera GT pictured was a UK RHD model with just 6,800 miles. As you can see, stylistically, it is the missing link between the 924 and the more loved 944.
To hear the sound of one of these 924s, listen to Arthur's, here.
