While listening to the BBC World Service today, I learned about The Atlas of the Real World by Daniel Dorling, et al. Specifically, the book has a set of maps depicting, by surface area, the relative wealth of the nations of the world, from A.D. 1 to 2015. Take a gander:
It looks like I'm going to have to pick up this book after I get the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World, 12th ed.
