Quantum's Curse

While driving to work today, I was inspired to blog about Never Say Never Again. On Fatima Blush's red Renault 5 Turbo. Comparing Thunderball to Never Say Never. An essay about the complex villain Maximilian Largo, played brilliantly by Klaus Maria Brandauer. But then, I read about Daniel Craig's accident today.

It seems the 22nd official James Bond film is cursed. The Quantum of Solace has suffered the following freak and violent incidents during filming.

1. A technician was stabbed with a steak knife by a woman he met at a bar while shooting in Austria. The cop who found him initially thought he was dead because of his weak pulse and massive amount of blood loss.

2. There was a fire at Pinewood Studios last weekend.

3. Daniel Craig cut his face last week during an action sequence, requiring eight stitches.

4. He cut off the tip of one of his fingers (in his right hand, there is no detail as to which finger) during a similar shoot today.

5. A 29 year old Aston Martin engineer lost control of the film's DBS, which he was delivering. It slid into Lake Garda in northern Italy. He was knocked out and when he came to, he was in the car, upside down, 150 feet on the lake's floor. Miraculously, he extricated himself and swam to the surface.

6. Stuntman Aris Comninos, while driving a villain's Alfa 159, crashed and suffered massive head injuries. The picture says it all.

Explanations for the curse have ranged from the Halloween release date for the movie to rumors that Amy Winehouse is singing the theme song.

Forget insurance adjusters and actuaries for the filming, we need a fortune teller!
